JSD was started in 1998 by Dave Jenkins and is now a thriving  Land Survey, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architect, and Planning firm with offices throughout WI, IL, ID, and additional staff throughout the US. 

The individual in this position possesses knowledge of Land Surveying field and office operations, various types of surveys, and familiarity with field equipment and procedures used in these functions. Additional skills required include computational ability, drafting/CAD, and map reading. The position will encompass overall project management, including scheduling and directing field staff activities, managing client coordination, budget and deliverable adherence, and further duties as described below.

This position is an in-office, full time position and can be in our Madison Regional (Verona, WI) or our Milwaukee Regional (Waukesha, WI) offices.

Reports to: Director of Surveying Services
Location: Madison, WI or Milwaukee, WI [In-Office]


Minimum Required:

Associate degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology Licensed Professional Land 
Surveyor (P.L.S) in good standing in WI
•    Additional states licensure a plus

Valid Licensure:
•    Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.)  Wisconsin or ability to quickly obtain with valid experience

•     Must have Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred:
•     Autocad Civil3d experience
•     Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.)  multiple states, or willing to pursue
•     CST Certification a Plus


Responsibilities:
1.   Land Division, survey preparation, project administration & design support
•    Overall  Project  Administration.  This includes preparing applicable documentation, communicating with applicable agencies, scheduling coordination, task management, and status reporting.
•    Provide  QA/QC  of all final deliverables or coordinate with project leads and clients to ensure completeness and accuracy to JSD and industry standards.
•    Providing leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to engineering and surveying technicians
•    Design project survey oversight by working closely with civil, planning, and landscape project managers.
•    Effectively perform project coordination, task delegation, and communicating expectations clearly with all staff and clients throughout the project process.
•    Filing necessary applications and facilitating all agency communication for all Land Division Projects.
•    Drafting surveys and performing calculations including lot dimensions, boundary, areas, volumes, cut and fills, etc.
•    Researching   and   confirming   public   records   to   determine   existing   property boundaries, easements, and other property information
•    Preparation  of  legal  specifications,  descriptions,  and/or  technical  elements  of survey submittals
•    Prepare flood elevation certificates

2.   Construction
•    Point computation and drafting in Civil 3D as needed
•    Creating and recreating proposed surfaces for construction layout purposes.
•    Provide direction and oversight to the technical staff for construction computation and layout
•    Construction Survey scheduling, deliverable, budget, and contracted task oversight
•    Provide solutions to field staff and clients for on-site challenges through field work data collection

Abilities:
•    The ability to concentrate,  multi-task, and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and clients.
•    Strong working knowledge of Civil Engineering fundamentals and practices
•    The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•    Ability to work extended hours as required to meet client, project and/or business demands.
•    A desire to deliver creative and innovative solutions to our clients.
•    Detail-orientated
•    The ability to occasionally travel to projects and meetings throughout Wisconsin
