Survey Crew Chief
Reports to: Survey Practice Lead
Education:
• Associate Degree – Civil Engineering Technology
Experience:
• Minimum of seven (7) years related work experience working as a Survey Crew Chief performing Altas, Topos, as-built surveys, construction staking, Boundary survey, and right-of-way surveys
Responsibilities:
• Perform multiple survey activities with minimal or no supervision
• Boundary, topographic, ALTA, right of way and construction surveys for public and private clients
• Work may include preparation of CAD survey drawings
• Perform field survey activities in accordance with standards set by state statutes and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping
• Assure Survey Crew adheres to procedures in the safety manual and uses all personal safety equipment provided
• Plan daily activities for multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Survey Department Manager
• Supervise vehicle and equipment inventory, loading and maintenance
• Make timely requests for external equipment, procedural changes, new equipment purchases and vehicle maintenance to Survey Department Manager
• Supervise the Survey Crew’s use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, and electronic data collection
• Communicate with the entire Survey Department about all aspects of the project
• Work without day-to-day supervision and make decisions for projects assigned within specified limits of authority
• Supervise daily Data Collector downloading
• Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders
• Provide input to Survey Department Manager for the formal performance evaluation of Survey Crew members
• Participate in Survey Department training
• Ability to work extended hours as required to meet client, project and/or business demands.
