Company History
Lounsbury and Associates (Lounsbury) is Alaska’s oldest Surveying and Engineering Company. Founded in 1949 while Alaska was still a Territory of the United States, our company and the great state of Alaska have grown together.
Major milestones for the State of Alaska and Lounsbury tend to go hand and hand. A few examples of this include our role staking the discovery oil well on the Kenai Peninsula to laying out the first gravel airstrip at Prudhoe along with subsequent oil wells or supporting construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline in addition to enhancing Alaska’s transportation system by designing Alaska very first Roundabout.

Job Description
As a survey technician you will perform an assortment of technical office and/or field survey related tasks on a multitude of projects for public and private sector clients. You will be responsible for ensuring projects follow applicable accuracy and technical standards per project requirements. You will be responsible for the execution and preparation of project deliverables such as plats, maps, reports, electronic AutoCAD drawings, etc. You will work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor.
Skill Requirements: This person should have strong communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. A general understanding of land surveying laws, practices, technologies and how they are applied to an assortment of projects is beneficial. You should have a moderate understanding of some of the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, GPS Processing Software, ESRI, and Carlson Survey software. Experience performing Horizontal and Vertical Control, Topographic, Right of Way, Boundary surveys are desirable. This position will require the ability to perform both office and/or field survey functions though an individual may specialize in one or the other. A willingness to perform your duties at a remote location or office on large scale projects would also be desired.
